Chapter 10 – Olivia

A persistent, muffled buzzing irritated Olivia's sleepy self enough for her to blink, slowly opening her groggy eyes. Sunlight filtered into the hotel suite. She tried to sit up but was restricted by something warm across her chest. An arm, large and bulky with muscles. Ryan's. She blinked again, her body growing hot as she remembered last night. She almost couldn't believe it had really happened ... she bit her lip, running her fingers through the hair on his forearm.

The buzzing returned, and Olivia wanted to swat it away like a worthless bug. But then reality seeped in: Ryan, the buzzing, the bright light. Oh, shit. She'd slept in.

She carefully unwound her body from Ryan's tangle of limbs. He groaned in his sleep and then blinked up at her as she scrambled to find her phone, digging it out from the sheets. It was 9:00 a.m. already! She gasped and scrambled to answer the phone call from Kathy.

As soon as she picked up, Kathy was on her ass. "Where are you? I'm in the lobby waiting. We were supposed to have left for the mall fifteen minutes ago. You didn't forget that you were supposed to give out autographs today, did you?"

Olivia bit her lip. "Shit, sorry, I slept in. Too much wine at the dinner." She cast a glance at Ryan, whose bright face fell at the comment. "I'll be down in a minute."

"If you're going to be a singer for a living, you need to take these small responsibilities more seriously," Kathy said. "You’re just about to make it. Don’t mess this up now."

"You know that's not the problem." Olivia hung up, a little annoyed by Kathy's comment. She had to admit that she’d made a stupid mistake, but it wasn’t irreversible. Just because they weren't going to make it there an hour early like planned didn't mean it was the end of the world.

Still, she was a little ashamed of herself. Hopefully, Kathy was just in a bad mood. Like Olivia, Kathy was probably stressed out of her mind making sure everything would be perfect. And everything was perfect. She’d had the night of her life with Ryan, and now she would go and make the rest of her dreams come true.

When she looked back at Ryan, there was a hesitant look on her face. "Was that true? You had too much wine?" he asked.

Olivia ran a hand through her tangled mess of hair. "No. I didn't mean it."

She chanced another glance at him, and he looked relieved. Their night together had been fantastic, and the memory of it made her tingle all over. She wanted him again … to feel his lips against hers, him inside her, his touch. Olivia shivered but quickly pushed the memory of their time together, his hands on her thighs, his tender kisses, all out of her mind.

While cleaning up and gathering her things, Olivia’s stomach began to sink as she realized how awkward things would be for the rest of the day.
